This year we are super stoked to announce a special "Locals weekend" in conjunction with Conservation Week. It will run from Friday 15th August to Monday 17th August inclusive.
We are running all Ziptrek tours at $60incl per person for all ages with $10 of the tour price going to Waste to Wilderness, an incredible miniature modular planting ecosystem.
This year, due to launching our event as part of Conservation week, all tours during Locals weekend will be treated to a new eco-story featuring "Land of the Birds" which is an extension to our new conservation focused Kereru Tour. All guests will be delighted with a native seed packet to take away and plant in their garden to encourage native birds to their own backyard.
Locals are all those who reside in Southern Lakes, Southland or Central Otago. Bookings can be made online by using the promo code "ZIPLOCAL"*
*Please note family or youth bookings will need to be registered as "adults" to access the promo code. If you have any issues, please contact our friendly GS team via phone or email and they will be able to make the booking for you. See here for opening hours and details
Wish to learn more about what "Waste to Wilderness" is? Then check out this amazing video or come along and listen to Michael Sly talk at our shop - 45 Camp Street on Tuesday 18th August at 5.30pm - as part of Conservation week. Register for free online at Eventfinda
What is Locals Weekend? We offer the local community and residents the chance to come out and experience the thrill-seeking fun of Ziptrek, for a significantly reduced rate with a percentage of the proceeds going to a local charity in our community.
Who did we support in 2019? Last month we supported Central Lakes Family Services who were celebrating 25years servicing our community and set a ambitious $10K total to raise, which we were delighted to smash, raising over $11K. A huge thank you to all the Locals who came and supported us by zipping through the trees.
Who have we helped so far? We have supported 10 local groups since we opened in 2009 and they include Queenstown Family Centre, Youth Booth, Wakatipu Search & Rescue, Kiwi Birdlife Park, St Johns Ambulance, Queenstown Scouts, Wakatipu Reforestation Trust, The Branches Trust, the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade and most recently (Oct 2019) Central Lakes Family Services.
How much have we raised to date? We have raised a whopping $92K over the last decade of supporting these amazing ten charities.
