Ziptrek is proud to have achieved Net Zero Carbon Business Operations Certification with Ekos who provide carbon footprint measurement, reduction and carbon offsetting based certification services.

We offset 100% of the CO2 emissions we produced by purchasing certified carbon credits that support the growth and protection of permanent indigenous forests in Aotearoa.

Qualmark Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Award

Ziptrek are particularly proud to have gained a Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Award.

A Gold business is a best-in-class sustainable tourism business in New Zealand,
delivering exceptional customer experiences. A Gold Sustainable Tourism Accreditation identifies those businesses leading the way in making the New Zealand tourism industry a world-class sustainable visitor destination.

The business is assessed in a number of areas including health & safety, business systems, environment, people and community & culture.

Once again it is invigorating to see a sustainable business working so effectively and continuing to strive to raise the standards of what you do. We do note that many aspects of your business are best practice for the tourism sector.

Tourism Sustainability Commitment

The Tourism Sustainability Commitment is a programme to assist individual tourism businesses to contribute to Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA)'s Vision for the future. 

The Tourism Sustainability Commitment was developed in November 2017 by industry for industry. Based on the United Nations' Sustainability Development Goals and aligned to the four capitals of the NZ Treasury’s Living Standards Framework, the TSC aims to ensure economic, environmental and social sustainability becomes a genuine ethical underpinning of the tourism industry. 

By becoming a supporter of the TSC, we agree to operate with the values of Kaitiakitanga (guardianship and protection of our natural, built and cultural resources), Manaakitanga (respect, hospitality, generosity and care for others) and Whanaungatanga (working together and providing a sense of belonging).

Travellers Choice Award 2024

In 2024 Ziptrek was awarded a Travellers' Choice Awards. These awards highlight the Best of the Best in industry. Winners are decided by real travellers from all over the world, sharing opinions, reviews and stories.

New Zealand Tourism Awards

In 2015 Ziptrek was awarded a New Zealand Tourism Award for Environmental Tourism and in 2019 our Executive Director Trent won the Emerging Leader Award. We were also finalists for the 2022 Regenerative Tourism Award and the 2024 Small-Medium Business Award.

Queenstown Business Awards - Chamber of Commerce

We have also won a number of local Queenstown Business awards including Sustainable Business Award, Best Tourism - Activities 2010, Excellence in Sustainability Award 2021 and have been finalists for more!

Qualworx Safety Audit Certified

Qualworx provide our audit where we are audited against the Safety Audit Standard (version 2.0) - Safety management system requirements for adventure activity operators.
