Ziplining in winter? Heck yes! There’s nothing quite like flying through the crisp alpine air, with stunning views over Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables dusted in snow. Winter in Queenstown is pure magic - and yes, you can totally zipline in the middle of it.
So, whether you’re a seasoned snow-lover or just getting used to life below zero, here’s your go-to guide on what to wear when ziplining with us at Ziptrek this winter.
Winter ziplining is all about layering smart. Think of it like building a warm and cozy burrito—except you’re the burrito.
Your hands will be exposed to the wind while ziplining, so insulated gloves are a must - ideally ones that let you move your fingers easily while keeping the warmth in.
You’ll be wearing a helmet during the tour, so bring a snug-fitting beanie or headband that covers your ears but isn’t too bulky underneath. Trust us, warm ears = happy zipping.
Cozy Socks & Proper Footwear
Bonus tip: Avoid cotton socks—they get damp fast and stay cold.
On clear days, the sun can be bright - sunnies are a great shout. If it’s snowing or especially chilly, ski-style goggles will keep your eyes and face protected.
We provide all the zipline safety gear - including your harness and helmet - so you just need to dress warm underneath. Keep your personal belongings to a minimum or leave them in a secure spot before your tour. You’ll want your hands free to hold on and take in the views!
Winter ziplining in Queenstown is one of the best ways to experience the season - adventure, epic scenery, and a bit of fresh mountain air all rolled into one. Dress smart, layer up, and we’ll make sure your winter adventure with Ziptrek is one to remember.
See you in the treetops!
