Queenstown’s Ziptrek Ecotours has scored a top spot in National Geographic UK’s latest article highlighting New Zealand’s best adventures.
The feature, ‘Six of the best adventures in New Zealand, from bouldering to bungy jumps’ places the multi-award-winning eco-tour operator at spot number two.
As Queenstown’s first carbon-neutral tourism business, Ziptrek Ecotours is renowned for delivering awareness and education of the natural environment – along with a healthy dose of ziplining adventure.
The major UK travel publication highlights the unique opportunity guests have to “conquer the world’s steepest tree-to-tree zip-line” while also giving back to the environment, noting Ziptrek’s regenerative tourism model, where “carbon-neutral Ziptrek also restores native forests through tree-planting programmes”.
The company has planted over 6000+ native trees/shrubs/grasses on their course area at Bob’s Peak, Queenstown and commissioned even more through certified carbon credits that offset the small amount of carbon produced each year.
“Ziptrek has always pushed itself to deliver what we see as sustainable or regenerative adventure tourism and each and every day, I think we get a little bit better,” says Owner/Director Trent Yeo.
Ziptrek Ecotours appears on the list alongside Wildwire Wānaka, AJ Hackett Bungy Auckland, Methven Heliski, Taupō Tandem Skydiving and Raglan Rock.
